Previously, I discussed blocking techniques for dealing with straight line punches.
In the video below I look at kung fu blocks for dealing with rounded strikes, such as a roundhouse punch coming in toward our head.
These are referred to as the upper level block, Tiger block and lower level block.
When done well, these blocks can have the effective of dissuading your opponent from throwing that technique again.
This is because the block is executed with the middle part of the forearm. When that strikes the soft tissue on the inside part of the arm, your opponent will feel a good amount of pain.
Just as it is a great tool for practicing your parry blocks, the Wooden Dummy is a great tool for practicing these blocking techniques as well.
