There are two basic blocks we learn for dealing with straight line punches… the parry block and the backhand parry block.

Initially, we train the parry block as a more forceful technique to put your opponent in a vulnerable position.

As you progress in your training, it can be deployed more passively.

The backhand parry block is a more passive block to begin with and is best deployed only by more skilled fighters.

To practice these blocks at home when you don’t have a training partner, I highly recommend a wooden dummy.
