The side thrust kick is another basic kick students often learn when training in a traditional martial art, whether it is kung fu, karate or tae kwon do.

While it has limited use within the context of typical street violence, it is worth training as it helps you develop balance and control through improved core strength.

In other words, training this kick will involve training muscles you didn’t know you had… small muscles around the hips and core.
